FWIW .... Ol Charlie seems to be doing fine on his original 6-volt set up. With the 261 and the 4,10 rear and the 17inch wheels, he's handling highway traffic just fine in the greater Scottsboro area. He cruises the left lane on AL 79 and US 72 just fine. And he climbs up Cumberland mountain with no issues in 4th gear. So I see no need for any conversion to Pertronix or HEI or 12 volts or any of it. 12 volts is just like a V-8 -- work of the Devil.
