In my '57 2 ton, it has the original 283 and 2 bbl Rochester 2G. I bought an inexpensive pump from O'reilly's 8 years ago just to get the engine running, still using that pump and it puts out 6.5 - 7 psi. I added a tee to the fuel line just before it enters the carburetor, I then ran 1/4" hard line from the tee down to a pre pump frame mounted filter, the filter has three ports, one from the tank, one to the pump, one for the bypass from the tee. I didn't measure pressure at the carb after the modification but I get no "hot soak" fuel spillage and the truck will run all day at 4000 rpm with a load, good enough for the girls I go with!
