Well, yesterday my #3 son called me from somewhere in Iowa. He started his own business repairing cars a few months ago and seems to be doing pretty well, at least he is 2 weeks behind. Anyway he had a 84 Chevy pu with a flat cam. The owner wanted an rv or something cam and Mitch didn't have a degree wheel. So, I thought that shouldn't be to hard and fired up the computer, got into a cheap cad program and set one up and printed it out. So far so good. Then I went out to the shop and looked around for something to put it on. I couldn't find any thick enough aluminum, but found some tempered masonite. I cut the masonite roughly on the bandsaw and glued the paper onto it. Then found some plexiglass to cover it with. Chucked it up in the lathe and turned it true. Cut the plexiglass with a hole saw to fit a 3/4" washer, and pinnned it to a 3/4" washer on on the backside of the masonite. Pinned the plexi to the masonite and was done. Then came the real test. I bolted it up to a short block I had setting on the engine stand. It works good and is even easier to see than the antique Offy one I've used for many years.
