The flasher can put out a flash signal to any and all bulbs. Including the one inside the column unit. Depending on the model of column unit and the harness part number. Need to have that info.
It would be easier for you to use/add an "in line" 3 prong if the harness does not use one.
With a 2 prong you can tap into the left and right front turn signal wires to supply flash to the pilot wire of the column unit.
Some harness kits have wires for dash mounted turn indicators, left and right. These can be utilized for a column switch pilot I think.
I can't remember what all I've done in the past anymore. But drawing from what I can remember and logic.
