The copycats save a few pennies every chance they get. On the ones without adjusting screws, the spring tension is adjusted by bending the stationary spring anchor- - - - - -GENTLY! Back in the dark ages, Delco-Remy was about the only regulator manufacturer that used adjusting screws. Autolite, Blue Streak, and most of the others just used bendable spring anchors. One bit of trivia- - - - -the cutout relay, which controls the voltage when the generator and the battery get connected together after the engine starts, has a LEFT HAND thread on the adjusting screw! That means that to increase any of the settings, the screw is turned clockwise. The spring on the cutout relay holds the contacts open, not closed.
