Did the manifolds get separated from each other during the rebuild? My GMC's manifolds did and when I put them back on they leaked.
My solution was:
1. loosely bolt the manifolds together.
2. install the manifold assembly to the head leaving the bolts to the head a little loose.
3. tighten up the bolts holding the manifolds together.
4. remove the manifold to head bolts leaving the manifold to manifold bolts tight.
5. have the machine shop true-up the manifolds to head surface.
6. re-install the manifold assembly with gaskets and alignment rings.
No more leaks.
