You might want to look at posts like this one by TUTS 59 on his Task Force 1959 4100 axle upgrades. It is a later truck, but maybe will help stir up the thought juices to help you find a solution to what you would like to see out of your truck. Don't forget upgrades to braking and steering to go along with that increase in speed! You can get there, just do it safely.
