I own a 54 Packard that Iam rebuilding from the frame up, hoping in the spring mine is back on the road again. I had it painted in sept so now its just put the trim and the interior back in, was last on the run in 1959 though so it ment a lot of work on the mechanics and body. Right now I have been driving a friends 55 Packard on the nice days. He has loaned the car to me for doing a few major repairs to it, auto tranni only had frist gear, no working heater, front end was really bad. Had to rebuild the generator as the bronze bushing had worn through and the armature ate part of the end casting away. I machined the end casting oversize and cut the end of the armature undersize to make it smooth again then use a larger bronze bushing to mak up the difference. Always fun with these older cars & trucks, We took it out to the auto show last weekend alond the highway and the owner could not beleave the difference in the car, still have to setup the lockup torque converter though but thats a minor adjustment.
