I knew a guy named Rob, he owned a bodyshop, Celtic Coachworks, oncehe had an accident with a cutoff wheel, the small 3 inch cutting disk exploded, the shatters went thru the full face lexan shield and he lost an eye. It was pretty tragic, because we all can understand that using a face shield or gogles can make us safe.The lesson was that although losing an eye he was still better alive because if it were not for the shiled, the doctors told him that the shapnel would have reached his brain. After that, I retired my cut off wheel, having it as an unsafe tool, even with the adequated protective equipment.
