Just idling around never gets the engine hot which causes condensation to form in the engine and exhaust system. You really need to run the engine at a fast idle for about 1/2 hour so it can burn all the moisture out. Short trips do more harm than good...if your just trying to keep the battery charged, get a battery tender/maintainer.
