High octane gas may be part of the problem. Use the octane selector to advance the timing to see if the problem goes away. If it doesn't' go away, all you need to do to restore the original timing is readjust the octane selector to the original position.
Do you currently have the timing set with the needle on the ball (5 degrees before top dead center)?
