I'm nearly ready to install the windows in the doors of my 1953 pickup, and I have a couple of glass questions. First, my driver's side window has good original glass in it. The old setting tape is dried up and cracked. The glass still is tight in the rail. I am not opposed to using it, as is, but I'm curious if there's any reason why I should re set it using new settting tape?
#2: I had a new glass cut for the passenger side that I need to install in the mounting rail. I have setting tape that I believe to be the correct thickness. The new glass is NOT tempered glass. It's laminated, similar to the originals, though supposedly shatter resistant. How is the best way to install the new glass into the old rail, without breaking it? I've never done it before, and I dont want to do something stupid and break my new glass.
