As Bill Hanlon so correctly pointed out, you do not need to pull the water pump to take the head off the motor. The 4 bolts holding the water pump go into the block. They do not go into the water jacket so they should not be rusted in. The captive bolt originally had a slot in the head so that you could use a screw driver once you got it loosened. A combination open/box end wrench will get that bolt started. Do the other three first and the captive one last. You pull the pump away from the block as you unscrew the bolt. I would not recommend to take the pulley off. You will do more damage than help. Let the rebuilder worry about the pulley. Ask more questions as they come up. We are here to help.
