I'm pretty sure none of the water pump bolts connect to the head. One of the water pump bolts (upper left when looking from the front) is "captive". It will not come all the way out of the pump without removing the pulley, but it can be unscrewed from the block without removing the pulley with an open end wrench. If you need a picture, I have one buried in a tub in the garage.

Like Joe's, my '52 GMC's balancer has the notches for a hand crank. You'd have to drill a hole through the bottom of the radiator to get the crank in place though.
