Just installed a nice oval quiet walker muffler and single exhaust on the '37 216. While working on it mindlessly got to thinking about how many mufflers I've done over the years. Seems like every car or truck years ago would vary from a few years to a decade and the exhaust or a minimum the muffler was rotted out. My old 2000 ML Benz that I just sold showed no sign of going bad and come to think about it I haven't actually changed a muffler now for decades now. Was it the gas? Catalytic converters now taking the heat and moisture? Or better metal coatings? Not important but curious if I'm back to exhaust system rot on the old truck that won't acquire a lot of miles

If you are missing one component, you'll need an abundance of the others two.
