Hello, I have been a lurker on this site for years. Recently jumped into the art deco world and purchased 2 1941 GMC's, one long bed one short. Both of these trucks have what appears to be stock steel beds instead of wood. Both are constructed the same and both appear very deliberate, not like a farmer added in some leftover steel after the wood failed. I am guessing the Pre-War trucks had steel beds and once the war started and steel became scarce they went to wood. Can anyone in this group verify. Although badged by GMC on the outside both trucks carry manufacture plates on engines and bodies from Yellow Truck and Coach MFG. Co. Pontiac, MI.
