Below is a screenshot form the 1955 Truck Shop Manual that details how to remove your light switch. Once you have the shaft removed, the round ferrule holding the switch to the dash just unscrews to release it from its hole. Don't forget to disconnect your battery before working on your switch/wiring. Don't want to let the smoke out of the wires. wink
