MAKE SURE THE TRUCK IS OUT OF GEAR!!!!
Try pressing down on the button with a screwdriver or some small lever. If that makes the starter spin, the contacts in the switch are not moving far enough when you "stomp" it. Some people have been known to put a bottle cap on top of the switch button to use as a "shim" until the new switch arrive.
Or, the starter could be bad. Starters often complain a bit before they die completely.
