Checked another NAPA coil at the store and it was also 2 ohms on the primary and 5,000 ohms on the secondary, so I guess mine is still good. Googled sources list everything from 0.8 - 3 ohms as o.k. for the primary and 6,000-20,000 ohms on the secondary for a 12V internal resistor coil. Surprisingly divergent views.

I changed the condenser, and retimed the distributor (static only, ran out of battery). The timing did look a bit off, not sure how that would change. Battery is charging now and we'll see in the morning. The points were a bit fat so I tightened them up, but they were clean and not at all burned or pitted.
