The AD trucks (47 to 55.1) did not have any "VIN" (no such thing as a VIN in the 50s) number on the frame. The only numbers on the truck were the manufacturer's ID plate on the door post and the engine number on the passenger side of the engine. When your truck was originally titled in the 50's, depending on the state, it would have been titled with one of those two numbers. My 53 was purchased in Cape Giradeau, MO, and was originally titled with the ID number from the door post.
