Thanks for your support, Bob. I'll try to keep the photos updated. It looks like this is the kind of project I need, although, at this point, everything that can go wrong does.
I was really happy to see that it had an alternator, even though that made me wonder about the voltage regulator, until I noticed that the alternator doesn't have any wiring attached to it. Apparently it was just used to keep the fan belt tight. Then I broke the head off the tensioning bolt trying to loosen it up to put a new fan belt on. Oh well.
