CuzzFuzz, I just spoke with Ron and he described your situation exactly as it unfolded for me recently. I bought new motor mounts and I noticed the shape was very different from the ones I have used previously. I figured they were a new style so I put them in. Well, my trans would not sit flat on the cross member. I was fortunate to have a motor/trans combo in my garage that I had removed from a donor vehicle. The mounts were in very good condition. The shape was just like the new ones I had received. The difference was the metal was angled up at the outside edge to accommodate the angle of the cross member. Everything went together smooth. In reading through this thread, I believe Gdads51 is correct in saying you need part# 594741. That is exactly the part I had used on my first two trucks with no problem. 594741 was all that the resto houses sold back when I bought them some years ago. Looking through my catalogs I see The Truck Shop has the correct picture but that was where I ordered and got the version that did not work. Jim Carter catalog has a pic that is not real clear. They specify to check your widths to avoid errors. They list a 2" wide mount, ME218, which may be correct. Chevs of the 40's lists part number 756700 with a picture that appears to be correct. I do not have any on hand that will help you out. If you cant find what you need maybe you can either put on the angle your self or trim back the bottom plate to the point where it will sit flat. There will still be enough metal to keep it all firm and together. Having held the other mounts in my hand I can tell you they don't have nearly as much metal on that bottom edge.
