If you found a carrier off a 1949, that's pure gold. I think either type will fit, but don't recall when the change happened. The 50 may have come with the slide out carrier like the '49, or it may have the swing-out carrier like the '51 and later trucks.
[on edit] it looks like the'50's use the slide out carrier like the 'earlier trucks. So yes, your '49 carrier will fit your '50.
