Without some pictures it's kind of hard to tell what your set up is but I can tell you how mine works.

WARNING: MAKE SURE YOU (OR OTHERS) DON'T GET UNDER THE TRUCK BED WHILE IT IS IN THE RAISED POSITION. BLOCK THE BED UP WITH A 4X4 OR SIMILAR BLOCK IF YOU NEED TO WORK ON THE TRUCK WITH THE BED UP THEN LET THE BED "REST" ON THE BLOCK(S) SO YOU KNOW IT WON'T GO ANYWHERE BEFORE CLIMBING UNDER THE BED. FAILING TO HEED THIS WARNING COULD VOID YOUR BIRTH CERTIFICATE!!!

1. Set the e-brake to keep the truck from rolling. Blocking the wheels is a good alternative if the e-brake is questionable or you just want to be extra safe.
2. With the engine running, place the transmission in neutral.
3. While holding the clutch in, pull the knob on the dash out to engage the PTO and then let the clutch out. (PTO is engaged and running now.)
4. Push the lever on the floor close to the driver's leg back towards the seat until you reach the desired angle or height.
5. Let the lever return to it's "neutral" position. If there's no spring on the lever, you may have to place it back in the neutral position.
6. After you have dumped the load, reverse steps 2 and 3 to disengage the PTO and reengage the drive gears.

7. To lower the bed push the lever by the driver's leg forward until the bed returns to the down position on the frame. If you used blocks to support the bed, you'll need to raise the bed and remove the blocks before lowering.

My apologies if I've included obvious actions in some of these steps; but I do technical writing as part of my work and I've learned not to assume any particular level of competency while describing steps in any given operation.

BTW, that's one nice looking big bolt! I can't wait to get mine back on the road.
