| | | | Joined: Jan 2019 Posts: 2,242 Herder of Cats, Goats, and Sheep (moderator) | | Herder of Cats, Goats, and Sheep (moderator) Joined: Jan 2019 Posts: 2,242 | To add some detail to what Bill said, this is commonly referred to as "PWM" or Pulse Width Modulation and it is a simple way to get the same effect as reducing the voltage without needing a power resistor to dump the excess energy.
The ground is turned on/off so fast that the motor percieves it as a lower voltage instead of power being turned on and off. | | |
