What Bill said above. There are a lot of variables that we can't know at this point.
You could get a standalone mechanical gauge to hook up temporarily as has been suggested, or you could go through and finish the electrical before worrying about the engine.
If the electrical system is finished, then you have to hook up the battery and test it anyway so you could do that before trying to oil the engine.
