1946 Chevy 1/2 T pickup driver side mount spare tire carrier.
After a recent no spare situation, decided to fix the barn door after the horses had already escaped and put on a driver side mount tire carrier. I'll buy or build it no problem. So I'm trying to figure out what I'm exactly gonna build.
After looking at all the pictures I can find of similar models, it APPEARS that:

1. That most are mounted on the drivers side (those on the P side have a fender indent needed for the tire to clear the gas tank filler).
2. There is NOT an indent in the driver side rear fender for the tire
3. The tire is raised above and not "on" the floorboard.

Anybody know counter to the above?
Also if anyone has any insight on what the pickup box sidewall reinforcing is like for the carrier, it would be appreciated. It is fairly thin.
