I’m very curious if this rare 1/2 ton uses the 3/4 ton frame or if it is a definitive long 1/2 ton style frame
I'd bet your life (but not mine) that the 100 series long frame is not the same as the 150 series.
The '53 Master Parts Book does not give part numbers for frames. Instead it says "FRAME ASSEMBLIES MUST BE ORDERED N.P.N. (no part number) GIVING FULL INFORMATION. SPECIFY MODEL AND CHASSIS SERIAL NUMBER."
This is the DRAWING (not photograph) of the 100 series (1/2 ton) and 150 series (3/4 ton) frames from the MPB. They are quite different.
'57 GMC 102, Original 347 V8, HydraMatic, 3.08 rear gear, added A/C, disk front brakes, HEI, AFB carb, '98 Honda Black Currant paint. T-boned and totaled 10/12 '52 GMC 152 Stake Bed, Original 228, SM420, added A/C, HEI, disk front brakes, '67 Chev 3.55 rear gear. Gets used as a real truck.
