Jerry -- Ah ... The Warrior mentality has been on the way out for 35 years. They are a kinder, gentler, more politically correct crowd these days. Apparently they can't fly a V-22 or a P-8 worth a flip but by golly they'll get each others' pronouns correct.
You should read Bill O'Reilly's book "Killing Patton."
But back to the point ... The significance of Tun Tavern is probably only truly understood by we Marines. It's not that it was a tavern ... although that is cool in a way ... its that it was the birthplace of our Corps. When Sam Nicholas needed to recruit warriors ... If you want to catch fish, you go to where the fish are.

But know this in all seriousness -- We are United States Marines. We take our history and our traditions seriously. They are sacred to us. We learn them by rote from the moment we raise our right hands. Our history has forged who we are. We recognize and accept that our sister services do not take their own history as seriously as we do. That's fine.
We'll be us. You can be you.
