It was one of those "looks good on paper" things that train drivers are famous for dreaming up. One of the most amusing night classes I ever taught had me working with five young engineers from the fledgling Saturn manufacturing plant in Spring Hill Tennessee. Somebody in upper management had wisely decided they needed some exposure to the experience of fixing cars, instead of just designing and building them. They were enrolled into a 10 week "do it yourself" course I had been teaching for several years for non-mechanics. Most of my students were young professionals, soccer moms, and other people who just wanted to learn to change tires, do brake jobs, change spark plugs, change oil , and do other minor maintenance on their own vehicles. That was a fun experience for everyone involved!
