Be aware that the adapter ring between the trans and the engine block is factory indexed to the crankshaft centerline. If you swap it to a different engine, it takes a special crankshaft adapter fixture and a dial indicator, plus some offset dowel pins, to assure that the torque converter runs concentric with the crankshaft. It's not as critical as the alignment of the torus on a Hydramatic, but it's still a good idea to check the runout.
