actually baking soda [NaHCO3] and washing soda [ Na2CO3] are pretty interchangeable, and in some areas washing soda is hard to find .... but the washing soda works somewhat better for this purpose
I use washing soda as a surfactant and water softener [why it's sold as a laundry aid] in my antique bottle washer, which stays clean as the proverbial whistle - I can attest to it's anti-corrosive properties, and always have lots on hand for de-rusting old parts
you definitely shouldn't be using 20 Mule Team Borax [sodium borate or Na2B4O7·10H2O] tho', Super55, you don't need the boron or the oxygen in the process
