Do these type of oil filters do much good? I don't have room for one on my COE, I just change the oil quite often.
Yes.
They filter about 87% of the oil compared to the spin-on type filter which filters about 92% of the oil.
Not much difference to worry about , in my opinion. As you said, you change the oil frequently as most everybody does with old cars.
