Timmer,

According to the 1948-51 Shop Manual (see the 1st and 2nd screenshots below), you must first remove the entire hub and drum assembly together from the spindle. Your pictures indicate you have already completed removing the cap, spindle nut, washer and outer bearing. Next step is to pull the whole kit and caboodle off the spindle. If it doesn't want to come off, you will need to back off the brake shoe adjusters (possibly a bunch) and probably give some persuasion to the drum to to get the shoes to free up from the drum to allow for full hub and drum removal. If what I understand of the instructions is correct, before you attempt to press the hub from the drum, you will need to remove the inner hub seal and bearing before moving on to the next step.

Once you have the entire assembly off the spindle, follow the steps in the 2nd screen shot to press the hub off the drum studs. Some of your fellow Big Bolters that have tackled this before will probably come along and add their helpful hints and tips. It may be possible to manually drive the hub off the drum using a suitable piece of wood and a big hammer, but I can't say for sure myself as I haven't ever worked on that sized hub and drum. It may also help to apply some heat to the areas of the hub that surround the studs to help free up a stubborn hub.

I also added a picture of the exploded front axle/hub diagram to help you see all the bits and pieces that make up your hub and drum assembly and provide a reference when it's time to reassemble.

Hope this info helps??? headscratch

Dan
