OP said he charged the system by observing the sight glass, I really doubt that the metering device is a thermostatic expansion valve but I'm only making that comparison to factory systems, it's been a long time since they used TXV's. If the metering device is an orifice and he charged it to a clear solid liquid sight glass then it's probably overcharged. I would think that Vintage Air would give specs for refrigerant weight based on the application/kit.
