The 235 was introduced in 1941 with the same Babbit-lined rods as the 216. The first insert bearing 235 was a 1954. That being said, there was a conversion bearing available for bored-out spray-oiler rods by the mid-1950's, so it's possible to find a spray-oiler engine with removable rod bearings. The Federal-Mogul part number for those bearings is a 1415SB. The rods MUST have the Babbit lining machined out and honed to the proper diameter to use those bearings.
