I ve beat on the truetrac in the Dana 80 in my rock crawler. That truck is really heavy, with 5.38 gears, and I m running a double transfer case with 40" tires. Sometimes it s about wheel speed, and I ve had 40's spinning up to 60mph and snagged a rock. Sure, it pitches the driveshaft, but I ve not torn up a truetrac as of yet. It sees a lot of street time as well, and a heck of a lot of trailers have been pulled with it. I ve ran truetracs for many years. In fact, I had some air selectable lockers in my last crawler, and went with a truetrac in my latest one just because of the simplicity, and the fact that I usually don t even notice that its back there on the street. As a side note, regardless of what kind of truck that you have, the transfer case to use is a np205. I ve even put them in 2wd trucks that I wanted a lower selection of gears.
Thanks for the input. My C 10 is a 2WD. For my purposes, I think I'll go with the Duragrip. It seems to me that the lockers are more geared for off road, where as the clutch type units are more general use & street friendly.
