When installing the large snap ring that holds turbos(HX35W) in my case, others are similar, together, tight quarters and large stroke are required. I found these straight pliers but no 90 degree selection, drilled a 90 degree hole and inserted pins to offer a second opportunity to get the job done. Large stroke still required another set to get snap ring tight enough. Pliers came from Harbor Freight. Pliers are hardened, so bring a sharp bit, not too fast. .125” pins in my case. Still retained straight function.
