| Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,746 | Use a small blade screwdriver in the D-shaped hole in the back of the alternator housing to bypass the regulator. It should go to a minimum of 15 volts at 1500 engine RPM if the alternator is good. If the voltage goes up with the regulator bypassed, either return the alternator as defective, or put a new regulator in it. Jerry
