topcat, check with your state Motor Vehicle Department (or whatever they call it) and find out if they issue a "bonded title". (Might be another name for it in your state.)
It's not a complicated procedure here in Arkansas - we had to go through it when the title on a 1987 vehicle got totally screwed up and lost. I forget everything that's involved; but, as I said, it's not complicated or expensive. I'm going to have to go through the procedure later this year for my '51 6400.
