This worked well and easy. I am one-man-show. I would add an ear or vertical 2x on the other end to prevent the the cab from tilting as shown in the photos and keep it level.

Lift and pump up, pull the engine hoist backwards. It’s a controlled and smooth operation. The ears add more height lifting capability than using the flat beam.

Center the pivot bolt along the length but offset it from the bottom. Remove your extension on the hoist and turn it upside down. Sandwich it between two 2x6 or 2x8’s add a stiffener such as plywood to the upper side.

It’s straightforward, uncomplicated, and you will feel really inventive doing this without help. Assuming you have a flat and level surface to work from. If not, lay some plywood sheets down.

I have used this technique on larger and wider cabs. And, I was able to lift the cab up and over the transmission shift lever without having to remove it. But the 41-46 cabs have a two piece floor panel that allows for it to move through the firewall opening.

You may need to remove the trans. shift lever on an AD cab. Once up n the air, take step back to admire your work, exclaim how easy it was, and enjoy a cup of coffee.

After a celebratory sip and a few pictures, roll a plywood base under it that is high enough to clear the engine hoist base, set it down, then get back to work! Daylight is burning.
