If you're just trying to take the "ring" (like a bell) out of a panel, just about anything that can be stuck to the center of it will work. I've seen where they just took a glob of roofing tar (or something similar) and smeared it on the underside of the panel. Roofing tar probably wouldn't be the best choice.
