Had a really bad main seal leak and no flywheel cover at the time. After a few miles the back bumper, diff, axle, lower tailgate sill, even the taillights had an oily film on them. So I put the cover back on and suddenly, no more oily spray greasing everything up. Just more localized and heavier dripping out the hole, the mess stayed on centerline maybe on the trans and that was that.
Strangely enough my 216 has always had a rear main leak but it's never gotten on the clutch at all.
