I'm putting new parking brake cables on a '53 3800, but i assume they are the same as 3100 or3600 other than length. There is small plate that goes on either side of the backing plate that positions the cable. Both of the plates are on the cable, with the ends crimped on so they can't be removed. Will the inner plate fit through the hole in the backing plate? I looked at it a minute or two and it seemed close, but didn't fit in my minute or so of trying. If i get it positioned right will it fit through? I don't see how else to get it together since the ends are crimped on. Thanks,
