Less tiring on the right leg on longer trips. Your SBC carb will be designed to work with a cable. My truck has the original pedal, but I used the hanging pedal on a previous project. I got the pedal and mounting parts from a donor car and the cable assembly from Lokar. This is what I mean (for illustration purposes): https://www.lmctruck.com/1973-87-chevy-gmc/cc-1973-87-accelerator-controlsGet the parts from a donor - should be cheap - maybe free if you are getting something else.
