Jethro. So you feel that the 261 carb gives you more power than the stock 235 carb? That's of interest to me as I have a 261 carb on my 235. It did seem to be running lean - if I partially closed the choke it ran smoother. There was a 57 jet in the carb and the specs said it should be a 64. I reamed the jet out a bit and it does seem better. Do you know what jet is in your carb?
(don't know how the 57 jet was installed. In the old days, some carb kits came with new a jet. Maybe a carb rebuilder in the '60s installed a 57 from a kit)
