About the steam tube...... notice that my truck is 3 years older than yours and the rad set up is different but you should have an "expansion tank" for coolant overflow on your pass. side fender or under the nose of the truck. I eventually installed one on my truck but had to hide ti fro view as the 1940 early models did not have one..... I used a S.S. hot rod tanks that was tall and slender and hidden in the side of the radiator/fender area..... it saves a lot of coolant leakage. All the temporary rubber tubing was eventually replaced by proper steel lines.
