The 1957 283 won't work with the TH350 as you don't have side motor mounts on the engine. The front bird leg engine mounts and the rear TH350 tail shaft mount don't provide any support in the middle...you need to find a 1958 or newer SBC to work with the TH350 or put a manual trans behind the stock V8 bell housing.
