Those adjusters are spring loaded inside. After ~70 years I would not trust spring tension and their reliability IMHO.
I have no idea if they may cause damage to your pushrods or other drivetrain parts.
If the seller/business lists them as 837385 or reproduction replacement for 837385 then I would ask for a refund.
