Not unless you have some way to mold it into a perfect circle the proper diameter and thickness. Then it would still have to be cut and spliced unless you're going to disassemble the ball joint.

I've seen attempts made to replace that seal with the graphite-impregnated string used for water pump packing, usually unsuccessfully.
